Job Description

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at KFUPM is seeking to fill several faculty positions at all professorial ranks with potential candidates showing ability and desire for excellence in both teaching and research. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree in the following ME disciplines:

• Nuclear Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with focus on Nuclear Engineering OR Chemical Engineering with focus on Nuclear Engineering

The candidate must have the ability or experience to teach courses related to Engineering Nuclear Reactors, Reactor Physics, Nuclear Power Plant Materials, and Nuclear Power Plant Operations.

• Mechanical Design and Manufacturing
• Thermal Sciences

The ME department offers undergraduate program (fully accredited by ABET) with an average 1,200 students enrolled and a graduate program with more than 100 M.S. and Ph.D. students. Current mechanical engineering faculty are very active in research and have sponsored research projects from several funding agencies and the local industries including oil and gas, petrochemical, power generation, water desalination, and manufacturing.

Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses (M.S. and Ph.D.), advise and mentor students, supervise MS and PhD theses/dissertations and develop funded research program appropriate to his field of specialization. The successful candidate should demonstrate a strong commitment to quality education and student interaction.

• Two-year renewable contract.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an earned Ph.D. from reputable institution, strong record of published research, experience in supervising research of graduate students, relevant teaching experience at the university level and have teaching and/or industrial experience in the respective areas.

Candidates with established research and teaching credentials in energy generation/recovery/storage or in innovative water desalination technologies are encouraged to apply and may be considered for a senior faculty position or chair professor.
